This installation is in the main entrance of the Tampa Convention Center. The wave patterns and the animations reflect the tidal patterns of the Bay outside. The slow calming patterns offer a contrast to the busy activity of the Convention Center below.
I wrote the software that drives this installation and selected the equipment to run it, as well as drafting the wiring layout
This project runs on a Pharos Lighting Playback controller. Each LED bar has a DMX LED driver attached to it. Each light bar has its own control channel.
The primary challenges of this installation were in the planning stage, as there was very little room in the sculpture to hide wiring, and everything was installed on scaffolding working around the busy schedule of the convention center, making return trips to service lights on the public facing side of the wall difficult. Extensive planning was done to ensure there were no delays on site during the installation process
